-----------------------------------------
A pack of teens ran like scared little piggies through the halls of Springwood High School. The monster had returned. Unkillable. Inescapable. But they’re kids. Full of hope. A whole life to live for. Doomed as they might be, they still ran with the impulsive survival instinct that any kid who has a lot to live for has. The longer they stayed ahead of him, the less time Freddy had to kill.
At least they hoped.
But Freddy was toying with him. Those
razor-bladed fingers that had killed scores just like them dragged over the lockers, sending sparks and metal flying.
Each classroom door they came across was locked. When they tried to shatter the windows set into the doors, the glass turned to bleeding stone.
“Squeal little piggies,” Krueger yelled in a creepy giggle. He grew stronger the more their fear bloomed. And that fear was in overdrive… no need for the legendary slasher to rush the slaughter.
Still, they ran. Even as the lockers ahead of them flew open and spilled out gory premonitions of the teens' impending demise, hope pumped through them despite it all.
“Attention Students!” A feminine voice resonated through the PA System like velvet. Oddly soothing in the middle of the plight.
“Please report to the library.”
It was so comforting that they stopped for a beat to orient themselves. Some screamed it was another Krueger trap. But they saw the monster pause, curiously looking at the hallway intercom.
“Looks like the Librarian is on the menu too,” he chuckled.
They ran harder than ever. The weaker ones gave out, but the others weren’t gonna give Krueger the satisfaction. The jocks hoisted them over their shoulders and sprinted as if their lives depended on it. Because, well, it did.
Freddy killed the lights, swallowing them in darkness. And the only one who could navigate it was the demonic bastard chasing them.
“Keep running. Forward.” The lady said through the system again. They did, blindly tripping over each other.
“Turn left now.” They obeyed.
“Keep going.” They worked together, linking arms. Her voice was their lighthouse in the storm.
“Now, right. Stop!” They smashed into each other.
But a door was there.
It opened, and they rushed in, screaming, tossing themselves under tables and behind bookshelves. The lights were on. The darkness couldn’t reach them.
Yet the door remained open, and Freddy invited himself in. His steps were cautious, though. He’s the GOAT of this nightmare shit. Something was fishy.
A woman stood before him, dressed in the bland attire a Librarian would wear. Conventionally attractive but nothing remarkable otherwise.
“Mr. Krueger. I was a fan of the books you were featured in after the movies came out.”
She adjusted a book on a shelf, aligning its spine perfectly with the others.
“I’ve read quite a few of them, and while I appreciate your popularity, I can’t help but notice your character suffers from an unfortunate lack of development. Same jokes. Same tricks. Same predictable patterns of behavior. One would think after so many appearances, you’d have learned to surprise the audience. It reminds me of my opponent for this Anarchy on your home turf. Razor Blade. The comparison is uncanny. Though I do say he’s more formidable than you.”
Freddy grinned. She’d slipped up. With a snap of his knife fingers, bookshelves morphed into a menacing dragon, the books forming the scales of the beast. But the face wasn’t a dragon’s. It was Razor Blade’s
“Gotcha cunt! How’s this for changing things up!”
“Oh No!” She feigned fright.
“Whatever shall I do?”
Reaching into her attire, she pulled out a large tome like a Grand Maester would use.
“Mayhaps I’ll use this Book of Infinite Wins as I will on Anarchy?”
She walloped the dragon, destroying it. Krueger recoiled, seething.
“Cheeky Bitch!”
He’d had enough and charged, finger-blades arching. She opened the book, caught his hand with it, then slammed it shut, and *PUFF* Freddy vanished inside it. The Librarian’s eyes turned milky white. Trance-like.
Freddy arrived inside the book. Feet stuck upon a blank page, immobilized like a fly in a glue trap. Familiar names began filling out the page, scribbled by an unseen hand. Krueger’s victims. And each letter of those names sprang to life, coalescing into inky forms of their physical selves.
“NO! I killed you all!” Freddy felt something he hadn’t since he got his ass beat by Jason Voorhees.
FEAR.
They converged on him en masse. He screamed like a bitch. It wasn’t long before they devoured him like zombies in an apocalypse. The only thing left of him was the bladed-fingers glove.
Back in the library, the glove of knives fell from the book, and the Librarian collected it.
“Ah, Razor Blade. I’ve been looking forward to this. You strike me as the sort of character one finds in a dreadful little paperback, all sharp edges on the cover and absolutely nothing of substance between them.
A broken record you certainly are. Same tired threats. Same predictable bravado. Same John Blade gimmick infringement. How terribly convenient. One hardly needs to read ahead when the plot is painfully obvious.
Razor, a blade’s only useful when it actually cuts something. And the only thing you’ve been cutting is the cheese, because you stink. I’ve seen more formidable characters in children's books. But please do try to surprise me on Anarchy.
Although, judging by your reputation, I suspect the only thing you’ll be cutting that evening is your own chapter short.”
She fitted the bladed glove onto her hand.
“You’re a book with a thousand pages and not a single worthwhile sentence, Razor, and at Anarchy, in our body bag match, I’m about to close the cover on you for good.”
The students emerged from hiding, gathering around her in awe.
She flexed the glove and looked upon the teens.
“I sense some of you have overdue books.”
The library door slammed shut.
Students screamed.
The End.
